Literature Text

In the small sanctuary outside the Lakebed Temple, in the depths of Lake Hylia, a lone Zora sat against a broken, colum deep in thought.  Or rather, a Hylian garbed in the previous possessions of the late Zora King.

Link, the descended hero who not one month ago had saved from a future of evil and despairity, was now, of all things to be on a heros mind, a woman.

-=Flashback=- (Mirror Chamber)

Link, Zelda, and Midna all stood together next to the now assembled Mirror of Twilight.  The portal to the Twilight realm open and bright, it's citizens awaiting their rulers return.  "Well... I guess this is farewell, huh?", said Midna, "Light and shadow can't mix.  As we all know." She said sadly.  She continued, "But never forget there is another world bound to this one."

Zelda smiled and said "Shadow and light are two sides of the same coin, one cannot exist without the other.  I know now why the godesses left the Mirror of Twilight in this world.", she inquired, "They left it because it was their design that we should meet.  That is what I believe."  The Princess of shadow took a glance at her counterpart.  "Zelda, your words are kind, and your heart is true.  If all in Hyrule are like you, then maybe you'll do alright."

Midna stepped onto the symbol of the Golden Triangle embedded in the stone in front of the mirror and the stairs into the portal appeared before her.  She turned to Link before stepping in.  "Thank you.  Well, the Princess spoke truly.  As long as that mirror's around.  We could meet again."  Link smiled at her, but was confused when he noticed a single tear start to form in her eye.  The tear floated from her face and into the air in front of her.  "I..."  She pushed the floating liquid away from herself and towards the mirror.  "...See you later."

Her tear touched the center of the mirror and fractures began to form from the place where contact had been made.  The Twili girlrushed up the steps.  She glanced back and met eyes with the Hero for what could be the final time, smiled, and dissapeared into her world as the key that barred the connection between the worlds shattered into countless peices.

Link and the Princess stared in dissapointment at the spot where the portal had once been.  And wondered together if it would ever be there again.

-=The present=-(Lake Hylia)

Link sat in his spot as he wondered why Midna had broke the mirror, was it possible she had never wanted to see him again?

He sat and thought for endless hours, with he odd glance from a Zora passer-by every now and then.  But they were unoticed.  The aquatic people swam so gracefully they wouldn't disturb an Ordon catfish.  But a few rough wakes in the water snapped Link out of his thoughts.  He looked to his left where he sighted a figure rushing toward him.  It's shape was distinct from the others.

King Ralis set down in front of the hero as he stood up to greet him properly.  Ralis put up his hand.  "There is no time for that now.  Link, I received a letter from the Princess today."  He handed him the parchment.  "Is it an emergency?" Link asked with curiosity.  "Read for yourself, I need to catch my breath."  He lifted himself from the lakebed allowing him to float wherever the water would take him.

Link unfolded the letter and read it closely, and then a couple more times to ensure his deep thinking had not corrupted his sight.  He turned to the relaxing Zora.  "What is she planning on doing?"  Ralis tilted his head toward him, "She's requesting the leaders of the Zora, the Gorons, and her own guard to meet in her Throne room tomorrow evening."  "Should I be there?"  "No, she asked me not to tell anyone else.  But I will breif you on what she tells us afterwards."  Link gave him a questioning look.  "Why would I want to know?"  The King looked at him amused.  "Let's see, there's a conflict in the Twilight realm, and considering what you've been thinking of lately..."  Links curiosity grew.  "Heh, nothing happens in my waters that I do not know about."

King Ralis set himself down and walked over to the Hero.  "Unless you want to leave her fate in everyone elses hands."  The young ruler smirked and chuckled to himself.  Link sighed and watched his air bubbles rise to the surface.  He knew that wasn't something he could allow.
